New Tiverton Depot Open Day

  •
  •

Our new bespoke depot in Willand opened its doors on Friday 16th June and hosted our much anticipated Open Day.

Much planning and detail went into the Open Day and it proved to be all worthwhile as the day was a huge success (and not just because of the Hog Roast!). There were live demonstrations on show which included double stacking of Anti-Vandal units with our FORS accredited vehicles, a set-up of our Flexi-Eco units and examples of our new towable and static Eco Welfare units.

Over 67 customers attended along with our key suppliers.  Everybody seemed extremely pleased and impressed with the new state of the art facilities.  Pickerings also showcased an extended fleet of equipment available for hire. Customers ranged from local/family run building firms to representatives from large regional housing developers alongside national hire companies. We even had the pleasure of having local MP Neil Parish attend. Neil took the time to extend his thanks and gratitude to Pickerings for the vast potential business opportunities that our new depot could bring to other local businesses in the community.  He enjoyed the company of the Pickerings staff and the hospitality extended to him.

Other Pickerings Depot managers kindly took time to assist on the day. Along with depot staff, they helped demonstrate to customers the features and benefits of our current and new range of units and gave tours of our new depot facilities. Representatives from Stephill Generators, Groundhog, Containex, Stackright and Newspace on hand for any assistance.

Multiple quotations and orders were received on the day, including an order for a 12 bay Flexi-Eco set-up. Overall, the day was very prosperous with orders still rolling in. We had great pleasure in opening up several new accounts with customers looking for a change. This can only be seen as a direct result of the high quality equipment and service Pickerings has to offer. Meetings have also been arranged with our Regional Jewson’s & Hirebase depots to discuss all up and coming works/tenders.

Feedback received from customers and suppliers confirms that it was a great day and hugely successful. Everybody who attended said that they benefitted from the new found knowledge of what Pickerings has to offer.

We thank everyone who attended and all those who helped to make the day the success it was.

Client Testimonials

“Hello Joe

To be honest I wouldn’t use another supplier (if I can help it) when hiring as your guys are second to none. Mark Cooper in your Stafford branch set the standard being the ultimate professional and answering our questions and needs every time he went up and beyond his job and was a fantastic support to me.

When we moved down south I used Iain Davidson at Tiverton who was also superb and nothing was too much trouble.....so when we had a site in Swindon Robert Tovey came to my aid another star that works for Pickerings.

I am currently dealing with Kerry Crowe in Middlesbrough who has gone out of her way to help me get the equipment I need.

So in answer to your email Pickerings will always be my first choice as these guys are now part of my extended team!”

“Hi Iain,

Thank you once again for trying to sort this out for us, I really appreciate the hard work you and your team put in to giving us such brilliant service. Your depot is a credit to the Pickering’s Plant!

I will make sure my Operations Director is aware of the efforts your team go to for Gilpin Demolition and Environmental

New Flexi-Eco Site Set Up

We have just completed a major site set-up in Redhill, Surrey using our brand new environmentally biased Flexi-Eco modular buildings. A compact and workable welfare facility using 25 Flexi-Eco units single story in a site compound of 600 sq mtrs that can accommodate over 100 site personnel at any one time. Due to the small than average available space for the setup, using our New Flexi-Eco units allowed us to arrange the units in the best space saving way by linking units long ways side by side for an 8 bay canteen and a 5 bay toilet block, some units end to end for the locker / drying room and in a block of 2 for the Gym and a 4 bay induction / security building.

This was the response from our client - "Not only did you deliver on time, the standard of your work was excellent. The quality was first class and the project looks exactly as we had hoped. One of our aims was to be as invisible as possible to the community with minimum disruption whilst maintaining low noise levels - you certainly achieved this - Well done to all involved"

Apprentice day at Groundhog

A team of Pickerings Plant apprentices were despatched down to the Groundhog factory for a day of fun and instruction on the manufacturing process of their famous Welfare units. The group had a factory tour, which included the machine shop and the finishing area.

They then spent time in the design office, with an explanation on the development processes and each apprentice was given the opportunity to use Inventor and then laser cut some badges which they were allowed to keep as a souvenir. A more relaxed afternoon was planned as they went Go-Karting in Skids, which was competitive but good fun and everyone involved enjoyed.

Pickerings Plant Apprentice, George Pyecroft was announced as the overall winner followed by: 2nd John George (Groundhog) and 3rd Paul Lemon (Groundhog). Pickerings Plant would like to thank all the staff at Groundhog for a most informative and enjoyable day. We hope we can meet up again soon.
